How Would be the Best Behaviour Following Embryo Transfer
One of the most critical times in IVF couples is the time after embryo transfer. After a troublesome, expensive and labour-intensive period, the embryo is inserted into the uterus and the couple wants to find out if they have a responsibility to increase treatment success at this point.
The most critical point at this point is the need to use drugs properly. Both the hours of application should be followed, and the way of use should be applied correctly, drug doses should not be skipped.
There are four main areas that are important for the couple:
**Bed resting
** Sexual activity
**Exercise
** Use of leave for working women
Bed rest: Short-term (1 hour or less) rest after embryo transfer does not change pregnancy rates after transfer. Many centres send the woman home after less than 1 hour after the transfer. There are publications that long-term rest, such as one night or one day, does not increase the rate of pregnancy and decrease errors. During the embryo transfer, the intrauterine tissue called endometrium is opened in two leaves for a short time and two leaves of the endometrium are closed again after the transfer is completed and the catheter is pulled. In this case, it does not seem possible for the embryo to slide down mechanically when standing up. It should also be kept in mind that prolonged bed rest may cause the woman to be bored, increase anxiety and anxiety, and this psychological condition may decrease the pregnancy rate.
Sexual activity: One of the two main problems in this regard is the possibility of holding a normal pregnancy with the draw just before collecting the eggs and the possibility of creating a multiple pregnancy by combining with the embryos or embryos transferred. This is not possible after the transfer, because eggs are no longer likely to get pregnant 3-5 days after ovulation. The second problem is the possibility of bleeding into the abdomen after strain during sexuality in large and sensitive ovaries with large numbers of eggs. Apart from these, it is not possible for the uterine contraction with sexual intercourse to move the embryo placed inside. There are even comprehensive studies showing that the pregnancy rate increases in couples who have sexual intercourse within two days after the transfer.
However, many IVFs do not recommend sexual intercourse in the central ovaries due to the possibility of bleeding into the abdomen or multiple pregnancy. In the meantime, some of the vaginal progesterone gels used morning and evening after the transfer harden in the vagina and can make sexual experience troublesome.
Exercise: After the transfer, cardio exercises such as intense walking can be done for 30 minutes or less. However, intense activities such as jogging decrease the pregnancy rate (up to 2 degrees) due to both vibration effects and the increase in body temperature and it is not recommended. Here, the question of how much exercise the woman did in the previous period and how active her life was should be raised. The exercise of the woman, whose daily life is already very active, can be postponed. The activity of the group exercising intensively can be slightly reduced. The exercise limit should not exceed a total of four hours a week.
Getting leave from work: We often encounter questions about getting leave from work, getting reports or using annual leave. The decision should be made according to the physical and psychological stress of the woman. If the job is very tiring and psychologically suppressive, it can rest for several days. However, after the transfer, thinking about the same subject at home alone in anxiety will create psychological stress and decrease the pregnancy rate. Because a group of friends with whom the woman communicates well in the business environment can form a very serious support and can contribute positively to the process.
All these questions should be spoken to the couple and explained without any question mark in mind and decision making together; it will protect the couple against the possibility of reducing the probability of pregnancy with various activities, or the possibility of increasing anxiety and stress level with excessive rigorousness. THAT SHOULD BE REMEMBER, THE MOST OF THE PROCESS ARE AFFECTED FROM ANXIETY AND COMMUNICATION CONTRIBUTES TO THE SOLUTION AS MUCH.
